WORKERS’ COMBINE
AN INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE UNIONS ACCEPT PROPOSALS LONDON, Oct. 22. The branches of the Transport and General Workers’ Union overwhelmingly accepted the proposals for the formation of an industrial alliance.
(A message from London on September 1 stated: The sub-committee appointed to draft the constitution for the proposed alliance between the railwaymen, transport workers, engineers, and miners met to consider amendments to the proposed constitution submitted by th,e unions. It is understood that these are numerous, and the National Union ofi Railwaymen took up a position indicating that they would possibly be unable to support the alliance project, as at present framed, contending that- success was impossible until the unions in each industry have composed their differences.)
