LABOUR’S LAND POLICY

MR HOLLAND DECLINEI QUESTIONS A DISAPPOINTED AUDIENCE LEVIN, Oct. 23. Mr H. E. Holland, Leader of the Labour Party, addressed a crowded meeting here last night. He spoke for two hours, mainly on Labour’s land policy, on familiar lines. He declined to answer questions unless Reform supporters gave a definite pledge that Mr Coates would do so. A would-be questioner interjected: “Il is not customary for the Prime Minister to answer questions.” Mr Holland: Then it is not customary for the future Prime Minister to do so. Mr Holland continued that if Mr Coates would agree to answer questions he would do so. He referred to the physical difficulties of travelling long distances, making long speeches, and submitting to questioning. There was much disappointment amongst the audience, several of whom wanted to interrogate the Labour leader on the laijd policy.
