ROCKET MACHINE
TO TRAVEL IN SPACE A machine which sets the law of gravitation at defiance and is able to travel in interplanetary space has been constructed in Germany, and it wdll be demonstrated publicly during the autumn. The inventor is Dr; Friedrich Nier, professor of astronomy and hydrostatics. His new machine works like a rocket. It is really a 4 4recurrent rocket.” The whole force of the propulsive explosion takes effect inside the machine itself. Each explosion is timed to begin as the preceding one dies away, so that the power exerted against gravitational “pull” would bo continuous. It is proposed to send three of these 4 4 recurrent rockets” into space from various points on the earth’s surface, to .sec what happens to them. A dembnstrational rocket, which will carry several passengers in the forepart of the machine, and which, it is claimed, can attain within the earth’s atmosphere a speed of one thousand miles an hour, will be 44 tried out” on a journey from Munich to Berlin, a distance in direct line of about 300 miles, which it is proposed to cover in about twenty minutes.
