FRENCH LOSSES IN MOROCCO AND SYRIA HEAVY CASUALTIES PARIS, Oct. 22. According to a summary of the French losses during the present warlike operations, given by M. Painleve before the Finance Committee of the Chamber, 1285 were killed to July 31 in Morocco, including eight French officers and 300 soldiers. The wounded totalled 5306, of which 160 were French officers and 1350 soldiers. From August 1 to October 15, tho period of greatest activities, 891 were killed of which thirty-one were French officers and 293 soldiers. Foreign legionaries are counted among the Frenchmen. Those ryounded during the same period totalled 2991. The killed in Syrim totalled thirtynine during the first six months of 1925, but from then to October 1 they amounted to 585. Tho operations have cost 950,000,000 francs.
