MR BLOODWORTH APOLOGISES

NO INTENTION TO OFFEND. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Oct. 22. Regarding the reference to Mr. Miassey at Mr. Dickson’s meeting on Monday, Mr. Thomas Bloodworth writes:— “I went to the meeting as an elector of Parnell, and had no intention to interrupt the meeting in any Way. Had I boon permitted to complete the statement I had in mind to make, I think it would have been clear to the audience that the meaning I wished to convey was by no means that which was taken from the half-finished statement. For the wrong impression given by the words I used I wish to express my sincere regret to the chairman of the meeting, to Mr. Dickson and to any whose personal feelings were hurt. As is well known, I am an opponent of the Reform Party, and I suppose that when the chairman of the meeting told mo I must go on to the platform to second the amendment which htid been moved, he realised I would attack that party and its candidate politically. That is what I intended to do, and no more, and in so far as the manner of my doing it has been deemed to be lan offence against good taste and ordinary political usage, I offer my apology.”
