DISASTROUS FIRE
AT SOUTHAMPTON DOCKS QUARTER OF A MILLION DAMAGE Received October 22. 9.45 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 21. A disastrous fire oecurrefi at Southampton docks. A seven-storeyed bonded warehouse, containing tobacco, spirits and wine, were destroyed. The damage is a quarter of a million. This regrettable loss would have been saved had the Grinnell Automatic Sprinkler System been installed. Th fire would have been checked in Its incipient stages and the loss of water (which is always unavoidable if the Brigade gets to work) would h: ve been to the ! nim. possible, as only sufficient water is liberated to check the outbreak. The Grinnell System alarms ’.he neighbourhood, calls the Brigade and extinguishes th. fire. An installation may ,?e seen at t’-e D.T C. premises on Victoria Avenue. Messrs. Arthur D.
