A New Zealand Star in Pictures Victor McLaglen, who hails from Dunedin and who has by his athletic powers taken the whole of America by storm is the star on “The Beloved Brute,” a wonderful love-story of a beautiful dancer in a travelling circus and the champion wrestler. It is described by the press as a new kind of “Western” with a new and welcome type of hero. Also in the cast are Marguerite De La Motte, Mary Alden and William Russell. The second big

attraction is ’’The Sign of the Rose,” the picturisation of that delightful Italian poem, “My Rosa.” The story was written by the star player, George Beban, who has played the same part on the spoken stage for fourteen years. There will also be screened two exceL lent comedies and English and American Gazettes. There will be matinees to-morrow and Monday. Reservations should be made at Upton’s where the plan is already rapidly filling. BAND CONCERT AT ABAMOHO SUNDAY AFTERNOON The Queen Alexandra will give a. municipal concert at Aramoho next Sunday afternoon, commencing at 3 o ’clock. GARDEN PARTY AT TURAKINA. The garden party arranged to take place at “Dalvey,” Turakina, has been postponed until November 7.
