McKeehnie sent well forward, but Richards cleared with a hefty kick, only Io sec Cooper pulled up for off-side when well placed. Good plav by Savage let Killick away, and from the winger’s pass Davidson got through and was brought down within the dreaded arch, a penalty being awarded to Saints. McCullum took the kick and drove hard and true, but Winstanley was equal to the occasiorf ami saved brilliantly. Good pl'ay on 'Shops’ right saw Cooper cross a nice ball. Macklev heading narrowly over the ball. Forcing jplay by McSherry saw the Saints get Hear, and H. Taylor cleared and Morgan was called upon at the other end ito hold from Macklcy. 'Shops had | now settled down to a good game and 'were doing most of the pressing. Mlackloy got possession, and swinging the ball nicely to the right COOPER met it first time and volleyed into the net. COOPER, a minute later, taking advantage of a miss by Latty, added number two for ’Shops. Shops continued on the aggressive and Morgan was having an anxious Time. McKie and McKeehnie wore 1 making heroic efforts to stem the tide, [and from a good clearance by McKie, [Killick crossed to White, who sent , goal wards, Kollick missing narrowly with a smart header. At this stage of the game Woodham eft me on for Saints, completing their complement. Some give and take play ensured until May let Mosem away on the left. Davidson and ,White al4 having tries without avail. ■ 'Hie fourth goal for ’Shops, though iinnch against the run of the play, was the finest of the gtame, COOPER receiving the ball twenty yards out and ■sent a terrific, shot into the net, leaving Morgan powerless to save. J From the kick-off McCullum tried to jbore his way through, but force of num ■ bers beat him off. 'Shops’ defence iwas all over the Saints’ forwards, and (grand play by Healey and Neesham saw Cooper again shoot for goal, but Morgan saved and prevented Cooper going nap. The game became rath ‘r uninteresting, Macklcy trying to enliven the proceedings with some clover play. Saints had an occasional brehk i way. but Richards and Taylor were deIfending well, Winstanley having mlatters pretty easy. Nothing further of any interest occurred, and the game ended: ■’Shops 4, St. John’s 0.

Saints fought hard against heavy odds. With only ton men for a time and Latty going lame, it was little wonder that the score whs so heavy.
