HUNTERVHLE.
DANCE AT POUKIORE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very enjoyable dance was held at Poukiore on Friday. In spite of the inclement weather there was a good attendance. The floor was in first-class order and with good music provided by Mr Peina (Rata) dull moments were out of the question. “Extras” were played by Miss L. Coleman and Messrs L. Dalziell and C. Stewart, while the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr L. Dalziell in his usual capable style. An excellent supper was provided by ladies, who are to bo congratulated on' their efforts. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Hunterville Chamber of Commerce was held on Thursday evening, Air. H. Towers presiding. The balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £3 12s Id, was read and adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted:—President: Mr H. Towers; Vice-president, Mr W. O’Brien. Secretary: Mr I. Brock. Auditor: Mr L. J. Thompson. Executive: Messrs Osborne, Stevens, Bowick, Berry and Powell. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s 6d. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries with reference to joining the Association. It was decided to support lhe Town Board in any stops they may take to celebrate the turning on of electric current in Hunterville. RATA CORONATION HALL. A meeting of the hall committee was held last week when the resignation of Mr W. Meads (who is leaving the district) was accepted with regret. Mr. Frank Haywood was elected to the vacancy and Air A. R. Down was appointed chairman. It was decided that two ante-rooms be added to the front of the building and that the building be wired in preparation for electricity. Later, when funds permit, additional dancing space will be provided. MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. PRESIDENT’S CUP. A shoot for the above cup was fired on Thursday evening, scores registered being as under:— Armstrong 69, A. Brant 69. K. Louric 67, R. A. Gordon 67, G. Stratford 67, F. Connelly 66, 11. Brant 66. AV. Brown 65, E. Hurtey 64, C. Stratford 58. A sweepstake shoot followed and re suited:—Armstrong 50, Lourio 50, A. Brant 50, 11. Brant 50, A. Loveridge 50, Gordon 49, G. Stratford 49. C. Stratford 49, Hurley 46. In the shootoff A. Brant won with another possible.
