GARRISON BAND CARNIVAL.

BIG PROGRAMME AHEAD. CITIZENS’ DANCE ON MONDAY NIGHT. The enthusiastic manner in which the various preliminaries leading up to the big Garrison Band Carnival, which opens in Draffin’s Garage on August 8, (to-day fortnight), are being proceeded with, augurs well for the ultimate success of the function. In this connection the ladies’ executive of the band are doing great work. Already they have had one excellent dance and Monday evening finds them once more into the breach. MONDAY NIGHT’S DANCE. The second of the series of Garrison Band dances will be hold on Monday evening next, at Harman's Hall. Excellent music will bo supplied, and a dainty supper provided towards the conclusion. Tickets: Ladies Is 6d, and gents 2s 6d, are being sold readily, and are obtainable from members of the ladies’ and gents ’ committees, the band members, or Messrs Young and Collins (Ltd) fancy and general merchants 23, Victoria Avenue. GRAND BALL AT MANGAMAHU. THE BALL OF THE SEASON. On Friday evening next, July 31. a grand ball will be held in Mr R. Rollick's woolshed at Mangamahu. Mr and Mrs Rollick having generously given their woolshed for the big occasion. The ball is being promoted for the purpose of raising funds for the Garrison Band, and promises to be a most successful function. The. Garrison Band will supply the music for the ball ami that will prove an incentive for both country and city visitors to attend in large numbers. Throughout the evening, various attractions will be introduced, and a most enjoyable and merry time is in store for all who are present. The hospitality of Mr and Mrs Kellick is so well and favourably known throughout, both city and country that visitors are assured of a generous welcome. It is to be hoped that a large contingent from Wanganui will make the trip, and all desirous of going are requested to communicate with Messrs F. Spriggens, and G. G. Thorpe, secretary and treasurer re-
