MANY HUNDREDS DROWNED
THE KOREAN FLOODS. TOKIO, July 21. Latest official reports from Seoul state that the water is rapidly subsiding and communications have been partially restored. While the officials adopt a conservative estimate of the number of casualties pending a detailed investigation, press dispatches unanimously indicate that the loss of life is serious, the paper Nichi Nichi estimating the Seoul drownings alone as totalling 500 to 1000, with 50 drowned in the neighbourhood of Pusan.
