CELEBRATIONS IN THE RUHR
CHURCH BELLS RING AND TRUMPETS BLOWN END OF FRANCO-BELGIAN OCCUPATION. Received July 22. 10.10 p.m. (Reuter) BERLIN, July 22. The ringing of church bells, the blowing of trumpets anil general rejoicings in the streets in th*' Ruhr at midnight greeted the end of the Franco-Belgian occupation. Enthusiastic crowds at Beehum and Gelzenkirchcn sang patriotic songs. The hoisting of a black, white and red flag at. a hotel in Bochum led to a. conflict between Republicans and Nationalists, the former demanding the removal of th*’ flag. . The police arrested several. Peace was restored after the proprietor at the request of th*' police, removed th*' flag.
