SMOKE CONCERT. The R.S.A. rooms were crowded almost to the point of discomfort on Sat- ■ urday evening, when members of the | Wanganui Highland Pipe Band held I their annual smoke concert. The evening was featured by an excellent musi cal programme, interspersed with speeches appropriate to the occasion. Among those present were the DeputyMayor (Mr. C. W. Poynter) and Air. W. A. Veitch, AI.P. A piping compe- j tition was held, Air. R. W. Haddow i acting as judge. There was a large ; number of entries, Air. 11.
