STOCK SALES
DAIRY SALE AT RAPANUI At Rapanui on Thursday, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., held a successful sale of dairy cows on behalf of Mr Geo. Ireland and Mr Forward. A good attendance of buyers was recorded and competition for good cows was keen. Prices for so early in the season were well above expectation. Mr Ireland’s cows came forward in good condition and made from £8 to £l7 10s for young cows, and from £4 5s to £7 for the older ones. Aged half-draught horses made £l3 10s to £l7. Sundries sold well up to market rates.
MANGA WEKA SALE. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co.. Ltd., report a yarding of 700 sheep and 60 head of cattle at their Mangaweka yards on Thursday last, for a good attendance of buyers. Competition on sheep especially was keen and every pen was disposed of under the hammer. We quote. —M.A. ewes r.w. b.f. rams 34s to 37s Id; m.a. medium ewes r.w. Romney rams 27s 9d; medium b.f. lambs to 22s 7d; medium w.f. lambs 18s to 22s 8d; forward bullocks £7 to £8 17s; 2A-ycar empty heifers £3 16s. TAIHAPE SALE Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Taihape sale on 24th inst. as follows.—We had a good yarding of sheep and cattle and have to report a good sale, practically everything being sold at the following prices.—M.S. lambs 22s 6d to 25s 2d; small do. 18s 8d to 21s; small 2-th. ewes r.w. Romney rams 29s to 32s (id; fat wethers to £2; m/aged ewes r.w. R.R. 25s 6d to 28s; 2-th. wethers 33s 6d; fat cows to £5 19s; vealers 38s to 40s; empty cows £3 to £4 10s; forward heifers to £4 Ils; m.s. wcaners, small, 10s.
