The judge of the toy dogs (Mrs Raf* low Wills, of Wellington), remarked that the exhibition was a first-class one, and the exhtibitors met with a collection of the best to be seen in New Zealand. Among the Pomeranians were the premier specimens of the Dominion, and the local dogs showed up well by comparison with the best from Auckland and elsewhere, and although the chief prizes were carried off by till outside competitors, the general standard of excellence was very pleasing. Miss Alalempre won the coveted ladies’ bracelet for best dog of any variety in the show, and the Wellington lady may be congratulated upon the splendid condition of her dogs, which were in beautiful bloom. The over-weight Pomerani.ans contained some very nice dogs and in many classes there was keen competition. Australian Terriers, both in number and quality, presented something ahead of the exhibition at the larger shows. Sydney Silky Terriers were also a very pleasing Jot, and wore put down in particularly good trim. Among the Pekingese may be seen the best specimens domiciled in New Zealand, and the dogs shown by Airs Neale were successful as the best brace of dogs at the show. The classes for pugs were unusually well filled, the open class being the best seen for some years at any show. The Toy Dog Club had a large number of special prizes for distribution among the several toy breeds, and that this proved attractive is evident from the entries received from the furthermost parts of New Zealand. The club was no doubt handicapped by having to accommodate the dogs in the marquee, but with fine weather and the efforts of the committee, the function was made pleasant foj exhibitors and the pub I**
