I At the conclusion of the try out, the, : boat was dismantled, packed and put. on I i the trucks to be forwarded to WellingI ton for transhipment to the Maheuo, ■ by which vessel the crew will sail for . Sydney to-morrow. In a chat with the writer last even-I ing. the coach, Mr H. Ayres, said lie ' was very pleased with the way the crew wert? shaping, ami he was confident they ‘ i would give a good account of them- ’ selves against the crack Australian ; Eights. Mr Ayres, on behalf of tho crew, desires to thank all those who helped to make the stay of the crew in Wanganui an enjoyable one. ami especi I ally the officials of the U.B.C. ami 1 W.R.C. for the help extended to them :in their training practices. He also desires to thank a number of old chain- ! pion oarsmen who had watched tho ; crew in their training operations, and who have given much valuable advice, ’ which has been greatly appreciated both by the men themselves and coach, ; and last, but not least, Mr Savage, who ] generously placed his. motor boat at thd ! disposal of Mr Ayres so as to enalile ! him to follow the crew in their prac- | t ee spins. ’ The party, including the All Blank ' seuller. Ladies’ Rowing Club. She retained the title last Saturday in 16ft. skiff’s, defeating Mrs. R. Kelly after a splendid race bv half a length in 3Jmin. Miss Lilv AVittrien was third.
