GENEVA PROTOCOL

EMPIRE CONFERENCE CALLED. LONDON, Dec. 24 The British Government has telegraphed to the Governments of the Dominions and India with a view to ascertaining whether it is possible to arrange a special meeting of the Imperial Conference early in March, to discuss questions arising out of the Genova protocol. Th c object is to obtain a full and frank discussion of the nature, extent, and responsibilities which would be involved for the wholr Empire by the ratification of the protocol. There is no question of any special lines having been already laid down by the British Government, but everything will be left for a complete frank discussion on the part of the Dominions. CANADA’S PROBABLE REPLY. Received December 26 12.5 a.m. (Reuter). OTTAWA, Dec. 24. It is probable that Canada’s reply to the British invitation to an Imperial Conference will suggest that every means of exchanging opinions by cable be exhausted prior to calling the conference, in view of the fact that the Premier will be unable to attend without the adjournment of Parliament.
