N.Z. RHODES SCHOLAR
DR. E. S. AITKEN’S DEPARTURE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 30. The new Rhodes Scholar, Dr. R. 8. Aitken, of the University of Otago, arrived in Wellington by the Napier train to-night to join the liner Pakeha, which sails at daybreak to-morrow for the Old Country. On behalf of the New Zealand Government, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, sent Dr. Aitken the following message to-day: “Accept from myself and my colleagues in Cabinet our hearty good wishes on the eve of your leaving to take up your Rhodes Scholarship. I feel sure that you will worthily uphold the splendid reputa- * on which our nrovious Rhodes scholars luavi • n tor ?' /' -a’and. The Dominion will watch year progress with keen interest.”
