The series of articles on Irrigation, by R. B. Tennent and J. R. Marks, is continued in the current June is sue of the Journal of Agriculture the special subject this month being methods of applying water and preparation of the land. The article is fully illustrated with sketches and photographs. Bush Sickness is further dealt with by B. C. Aston, the rocks and soils of the affected district being discussed in their bearing on the problem. The remarkable development of dairy herd-testing assosiations in the past season is presented by W. M. Singleton, the complete Dominion figures being published for the first time, together with other data relating to the history of the movement in New Zealand. A record of the Operations of the Official Seed-testing Station at Wellington, in 1923-24, is contributed by N. R. Foy, who blends statistical matter with interesting comment. The present is the first complete annual report of the work of the station to be published. The results iof the testing of a further series of samples of New Zealand grown wheats is reported by L. D. Foster, milling-quali-ties being specially dealt with in the present article. J. W. Calder records an experiment carried out at Lincoln to ascertain the best stage for cutting wheat. Lists of the grading averages of butter and cheese factories for 1923-24. will be scanned with special interest by dairy-farmers and factory managers. Taranaki factories head the list in both butter and cheese, with a North Otago company as runner-up in the butter branch. The issue is completed by the regular monthly features.
