FATAL ACCIDENT
AN ENGINEER KILLED. (Per Press Association). TIMARU, June 26. Ernest Lomond, 35, married, an engineer at the local brickworks, was pulling off a belt on the engine in order to stop it at noon to-day, when by some means he was caught in the belt and tw’isted round the shaft. His body was fearfully mutilated, having to be cut from the shafting.
