Our Christchurch correspondent telegraphs: The officers and field staff of the Government Life Insurance Department (Christchurch branch), assembled on Thursday to bid farewell to Mr C. H. Ralph, who has been promoted to the position of manager at W’anganui. Mr Ralph took up the duties of chief clerk at Christchurch about four years ago. which position he held until December last, since when he has occupied the post of acting-manager. He has, by his zeal and kindly consideration for his fellow-workers, endeared himself to all during his stay here, and in token of their respect he was presented with a silver tea and coffee service. In making the presentation, Mr Waite congratulated Mr Ralph on his promotion and expressed regret at his departure. Mr Ralph suitably responded, and said that though it afforded him much pleasure to climb the department’s ladder, he valued more the many good friends he had made during his stay in Christchurch.
