SUPREME COURT

BLENHEIM SITTINGS. (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, June 10. At the Supreme Court, an old man, James Ryan, was charged with allegedly interfering with a young girl. The jury returned a verdict of guilty of attempted carnal knowledge. Mr Justice Reed, in imposing reformative detention for a period not exceeding twelve months, said prisoner was more to be pitied than blamed, but he (the judge) had to consider the protection of the community. He was of opinion there should be some sort of home for these cases.
