DOMINION CONFERENCE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. At the Dominion conference of the New Zealanu R.S.A. to-day, Colonel Hugh Stuart (Professor of Classics at Canterbury College), who is president of the Christchurch R.S.A., was elected president for the ensuing year in |succession to Major-general Sir Andrew Russell. He was elected to the accompaniment of “For ue-« a jolly good fellow.” Other officers elected were: vice president, D. S. Smith (Wellington); hon. treasurer, J. D. Harper (Wellington); Dominion executive, M. A. Aldred, F. M. Cox (Auckland), TJ. C. Laing (Otago), J. D. Forbes (Oamaru), W. Perry A. T. Duncan. G. W. Clinkard (Wellington), N. A. Vercoe tNelson), G. W. Leadiy (Christchurch), A, H, MeKane (Greymouth). It was decided that the next conference be held in Dunedin, and in the future the conference shall not sit on a Sunday. The matter of an alleged military defaulter being included in the All Black team was discussed. A subcommittee was set up to investigate the matter, and it reported that there was no evidence available sufficient to justify taking action in the matter. PROGRESSIVE IMMIGRATION POLICY. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. The Reuturncd Soldiers’ Conference this morning passed a resolution urg ing the Government to bring down a progressive immigration policy, at the same time opening up all unoccupied land and setting up a local immigration committee on the Australian lines.
