SOUTH TARANAKI WINTER SHOW
FARM AND GARDEN SECTION. One of the most interesting sections of this year’s Winter Show should be the farm and garden. There are 61 classes in this section, the first 35 being for garden vegetables and the remainder for root crops. With such a fertile district and with the facilities at their disposal there should be many entrants for this section. On previous occasions the section has attracted many excellent exhibits, and no doubt this year will find it again well filled. The prizes include a farm gate (value £2 ss) to the exhibitor making the best display of potatoes, six tubers of each variety, named. The New Zealand .Loan and Mercantile Co. offer two bags of pig feed for most points in potato classes. In the roots classes Messrs Borthwick and Sons offer half a ton of chemical manure to the farmer scoring most points in this section, while there are also special prizes donated by Mr F. GiUanders and J. G. Ward and Co. for roots grown from Sutton’s seeds. Full information is given in the schedule, which can be obtained from the secretary (Mr L. O. Hooker), Hawera.
