OLD DISPUTE SETTLED

PARIS, May 6. Th e twenty-five year old dispute between the late Empress Eugenie and the French Government has been settled.

The Empress in 1899 was awarded 2,287,000 francs from the Imperial civil list, but the money was not paid, and is now due to the Empress’ heiress, Princess Marie, a twelve-year-old daughter of Prince Victor Napoleon. As the death duties and transfer fees amount to four and a half million francs, Princess Marie has waived all claims, provided the State gives her Napoleon’s sword and clock, which is the property of Queen Hortense.
