SANDON NOTES

(From Our Own Correspondent)* The annual meeting of tho Randol Old Boys’ Association was held on Saturday. Mr W. J. Croucher presided. There was only a moderate attendance. The annual report and balancesheet showed a credit balance of £8 for the year. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr W. J. Croucher; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. E. Pearce, A. Matthews, J. W. Masters; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. M. Croucher; executive,* Messrs H. J. Fagan, C. Eglinton, F. Read, J. Cockburn, H. Peaver. The annual subscription was fixed at ss. The annual social is to be held on Friday, June 13. Quite a large number greeted the the Foreign Mission deputation an the Sandon Methodist Church on Wednesday evening last. The meeting was addressed by Rev. Goldie and the two Solomon Island lads who accompany him. The addresses were listened to with much interest. One of the lads played a cornet solo, and a duet was pleasingly rendered by the boys in their native tongue. The choir also assisted with two anthems. Supper was provided by the ladies ol the congregation. At the last meeting of the school committee the head teacher’s report for the last quarter gave the average number on the roll as 72, with an average attendance of 69. The number on the roll at present is 73. The committee is arranging a working bee one day during the week, and it is hoped a gooa number will turn out to assist. The following is the result of games played in Te Kawau Sub-Union area on Saturday:—Senior.—United defeated Sandon by 10 points (two tries and a potted goal) to 6 points (two penalty goals). -* Mr G. Fitzgerald was referee. Awahuri and Ohakea played a draw at Awahuri. Mr Mac Royal was in control. Junior.—United defeated Awahuri by 20 points to nil. Mr L. McDoneli refereed. Rongotea and Kaimatarac played a draw at Rongotea, 6 pointi each. Mr W. J. Smith was in charge of the whistle.
