Mr. H. N. Maunder, the well-known electriciah, of the firm of Maunder and Co., who was a member of the “Hydro Five,” is announced as a candidate for the vacancy on the Borough Council. Mr. Maunder’s views will be published in due course. The many friends of Mrs. A. E. Davies will regret to hear of her death, which occurred yesterday afternoon at the early age of 46 years. The deceased, who was a native of Wanganui, was a daughter of the late Mr. George Doran, and was well-known and highly respected by a largo circle of friends. To the bereaved relatives much sympathy will be extended.
Mr. Bert Trussell, who has been associated with the Southern Cross Biscuit Factory for many years, and who has resigned his position for health reasons, was met yesterday by his fellow-employees at the works. Mr. R. McKinnon, on behalf of the staff, expressing regret that Mr. Trussell was severing his connection with the firm, made a presentation of a silver basin and jug. Several speeches eulogising the good qualities of Mr. Trussell were made. The recipient feelingly responded.
