HANDING ROUND THEIR LOVE LETTERS

ISN’T IT MEAN! Many girls when a man first pays them attention cannot resist the temp tation to tell their friends of it. They discuss him with them, his at tentions, his position, and his prospects, frequently when they are genuinely attracted by him. And they seem quite obvious to the fact that they are not playing the game. The man sometimes learns of it, is quizzed about the girl, and unless h is very much in love he is quite likely to discontinue his attentions, in order to avoid the comments and badinage of his friends. And the girl is left to wonder why. Many a prospective engagement has been nipped in the bud in that way. BETRAYING CONFIDENCE Others repeat to their friends things told to them in confideqfe of a man’s personal or business affairs. Such matters should, of course, always be regarded as sacred, with a little justifiable pride in thus having been chosen as confidant. There are girls, too, who show their love-letters to other girls. Tender sentiments and thoughts penned and intended for their eyes alone are passed round for others to giggle and ridicule at. NOT SO PUNCTILIOUS AS MEN. Women, alas! though often they do not deserve it , are accused of not being go punctilious in these things as men. It behoves the girl of to-day, therefore, to live down this imputation, and individually prove that women can be as particular as men in these small matters. Above all, the wise girl does not boast of her conquests. If is a poor policy in any case, for it may not be so complete as she imagines, and she is thus throwing down the gauntlet to another and maybe a more fascinating person! Then, too, if, is bad form, for if a man is really attracted by a girl his attentions will soon be J patent for all to see. Other girts will avoid her also, it she proclaims her triumphs, for, naturally, they will look upon her as one who will have little compunction in appropriating the attentions of their own particular ■wains! A REAL PAL. The girl who is jolly and goodtempered, and ean talk well and amusingly, albeit prove herself reiieieat on occasions, and who can accept a man’s friendly attentions without imagining he is in love with her, is more likely to receive serious attentions than one who boasts of her conquests. Men usually honour and esteem a girl they can trust with their confidence, and whose friendship they can enjoy without the immediate circle of her and his friends bei_g made aware of the fact. ■- ■ <
