THE LONDON STRIKE
COURT OF INQUIRY’S REPORT

The Court of Inquiry into the London transport strike issued an interim report, stating, inter alia, that nobody seriously questioned the workers’ claim to increased wages. The crisis had arisen owing to the inability of various undertakings to earn sufficient to meet the claim. The report concludes: The only present hope of reopening negotiations between the parties is an undertaking that the Government will press forward legislation placing metropolitan passenger traffic under coordinating control. GOVERNMENT TO INTRODUCE LEGISLATION TO-DAY Received March 25, 10.45 p.m. (Reuter) LONDON, March 25. The Government has decided to introduce to-morrow a Bill as recommended in the report of the Court of Inquiry into the transport strike and to expedite its passage. Meantime negotiations continue.
