A DUNEDIN REQUEST. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 24. Mayor Tapley has telegraphed the Premier asking that he attempt to arrange with Admiral Feld to bring the Imperial squadron south about to Wellington instead of Cook Strait, so that Dunedinites may view the fleet off St. Clair beach. WANGANUI SCHOOL CHILDREN WILL GO TO WELLINGTON. A combined meeting of the HeadTeachers’ Association and Wanganui School Committees’ Association was held at the Education Board’s office on Saturday, 22nd inst. Mr C. H. Warden occupied the chair. The business under discussion was the proposed visit for the schools to the British Fleet at Wellington. Resolved —‘ ‘ That it be agreed to take the children of Wanganui Schools to see the Fleet, and that an endeavour be made for a Friday, and that the ages be left in the hands of the head-teach-ers respectively.” Parents are informed that it is purely optional for any scholar to go. The respective School Committees to attend to refreshments and fruit for their own schools on the journey.
