THE VITALI CASE
.VERDICT FOR DEFENDANT Received March 24, 10.5 p.m. SYDNEY, March 24. After rebutting evidence had been tendered in the claim by Mrs Vitali the jury found in favour of the defendant, Lubrano. (Emily Vitali, wife of Commander Vitali, Italian consul, sued Frank Lubrano, shipping agent, of Sydney, to recover £2OOO for alleged assault, also for allegedly publishing false statements regarding her. The action was a sequel to a divorce suit wherein Commander Vitali was co-respondent, and was adjudged guilty of adultery with Mrs. Lubrano. The alleged assault consisted of Lubrano slapping her on the face at an Italian dinner).
