AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

THE GRAND. CHARLES RAY IN GREAT COMEDY DRAMA. If you have any idea that “Alias Julius Caesar,’ ’ the latest picture starring Charles Ray that opened at the Grand Theatre yesterday, has anything to do with history, Shakespeare or high-brow literature, you’re wrong. It’s fun pure and simple; but fun deftly drawn, wholesome and legitimate. It is by far the most humorous contribution Mr. Ray has made to the screen for some months and well up among the good screen comedies of the year. Billy Barnes is the name of the character Ray is called upon to portray. Billy is all right but he has a girl and a rival. As the result of a delightful trick he is left in the shower room of the country club minu s his clothing and a few hours before he is to’ take the girl to a dance. Determined to keep his engagement at all hazards he breaks out and starts down the road with an automobile and a raincoat. The motorcycle is to keep going and the raincoat is to keep him from going to gaol. The supports include William Desmond in "Shadows of the North” a five-reel Universal; a Century comedy and the International 1 News. This programme Vill be repeated again this afternoon and tonight. Readers are reminded of the sale of sewing, home-made cakes, etc., to be held in St. James’ Hall, Boydficld St., to-morrow afternoon, also the social in the evening at 7.45.
