THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM. A QUESTION OF FINANCE. Included in the Dominion team for the Olympic Games are four Wanganui oarsmen. Whether they are to go or not is largely a matter for the citizens of Wanganui, as well ;.s for the rest of the Dominion. The fact that the old Union Boat Club’s crew, holders of the New Zealand Champion Fours for many years, have been accorded the honour of being among the nine selected, is one tnat should make Wanganui hake mor e than a passing interest in its unbeaten crew. * Time ie getting on, and hurt a short period now remains for the public of Wanganui to do something really worth while to ensure its rowing crack s being contestants at the Olympiad. Wanganui is vitally interested in this matter. Last night the city paid homage to its King’s Prizeman. It depends a good deal upon Wanganui whether or not it shall have the undoubted pleasure of welcoming back in a few months time the holders of the Blue Riband of Rowing, won from the oarsmen of the world. The team, cannot be sent without money. Wanganui is only to be asked to do its share. Let the city rise above itself and guarantee a fair proportion of the finance required. With the object of placing the matter before the public, a meeting is to be held very shortly, and it hoped that not only the members of all spotting bodies will be-present, but also representatives of th 0 citizens of Wanganui and district. The cooperation of all is asked for and required. j
