MR. HOPE GIBBONS’ CANDIDATURE. MEETING OF SUPPORTERS. At a meeting of Mr. Hope Gibbons’ supporters held last in connection with his candidature for the Mayoralty there wer e ninety ‘presetit, and the proceedings were enthusiastic. Mr. Hope Gibbons briefly stated his view s on borough affairs, and answered a number of questions. It was decided to set up a number of strong committees and do everything to ensure Mr. Gibbons’ return at the head of the poll. Arrangements are being made for Mr. Gibbons to address a- public meeting, the details of which will be announced in due course.
