THE DOMINION TOURNAMENT PROGRESS ON SATURDAY. BENEFIELD TWO WINS ONE LOSS (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 20. The Dominion bowling tournament was continued yesterday in fine weather. The day was full of surprises, most notable being the double defeat of Carswell, the veteran Taieri player, auu Dobbs, of St. Alban’s. The latter had come through section play without de feat, but in his first game yesterday went down to Wylie by the wide margin of 31 to 3. Two games in the pairs competition were also played. WANGANUI EAST CLUB Last Saturday many members being away practice games only were ployed, after which some of the club pairs and singles were got off. During the afternoon the vice-presi-dent Mr A. W. Jones called players together and made feeling reference to the death of Mr Stephen Green which took place at his late residence, Young Street, Wanganui East, last week. Mr Green had been a member since the formation of the club and took great interest in bowling. Owing to failing health he was not able to take any active part during the last two months. A vote of sympathy to his widow and family was passed. As a mark of respect to the deceased play was suspended for ten minutes. PRACTICE GAMES. Hedges, Quin, Rush, Jones (sk.) 15 v.
