CHURCH NOTES

At the Trinity Methodist Chirr ch, Victoria Avenue, to-morrow, there will be special Christmas services. The preachers will be: 11 a.in., Rev. J. jßcid; 7 p.m., Rev. W. Greig. Christtmas hymns, with choruses, solos, etc. from the ‘Messiah. ’ Soloists: Mrs Gathjorno Hardy, the Misses Ashmore, Eva | Webb Jones, and Townsend, and Mr I Ernest Thomas. Kaitokc Church, 2.3 U Ip.m., Rev. C. Strand. Christmas services will be held in the ■lngestre Street Baptist Church at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The evening service | will be largely a Christmas Choral Fesjtival, when selections from “The Mesisiah” will be rendered under the | baton of Mr R. Jenkins, with Mr Rae Nelson at the organ. The pastor will conduct both services, the subjects being: “The Good Tidings,” and “His Name-—Wonderful. ’ 1 "A Great Christmas C bar al Festival.” This is the term that describes the services to bo held at tiro Gonville Methodist Church to-morrow. The morning preacher will be Rev. W. Lea, anj the following anthems will be rendered: "O Zion, that bringest good tidings” (Stainer),

“Behold, 1 bring you good tidings” (Goss), “Let us now go even unto Bethlehem” (Hatton), and “Adeste Fidelcs” (Novello). Mrs R. Spurdie will sing ”O Thou that Tellest” (Messiah). Rev. C. Strand will conduct the service at 7 p.m. The soloists at this service will be Mrs Denitis Johns who will sing "How lovely are Thy Dwellings” (Liddle), Mrs Bert Atkinson, who will sing “God that modest earth and heaven” (Sanderson), and Mr J. Gallagher, who sings ’Star of Bethlehem.’ The winning quartette at the recent Male Choir competition will sing "Holy Night’ (Beethoven). The foltayving anthems will be rendered by the choir; "Glory bo to God on High” (Novello), "Gloria” (Mozart’s "Twelfth Mass”), "Ora pro nobis” (Barnard), “Adeste Fideles” (Novello), "And the Glory of the Lord” (Novello), and several of the great hymns that arc appropriate to the great occasion. Visitors and strangers will be heartily welcomed to these services. Christmas services at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. in St. Raul’s to-morrow. Rev. Evan R. Harries will preach. In the evening the following selections from “The Messiah” will bo sung: “Comfort Ye,” "Every Valley,” Mr. B. Hoar; "And the Glory of the Lord,” the choir; "Thus Saith the Lord,” "Bot Who May Abide,” Mr Lance Craig; ‘For Unto us a child is born,' the choir; “There were Shepherds,” “And the Angel said unto them,” ■ Miss Franklin Brown; “Glory to God,” the choir; “Rejoice Greatly," Miss Franklyn Brown; "He was despised,” Miss M. Allomes; “Why do the nations,” Mr L. Craig; “The Hallelujah Chorus.”
