SOCIAL SERVICE UNDERTAKINGS
WESSONS FROM THE STATES. NEW YORK, May 23. Dr. Robertson, director of the division of industrial hygiene in the Commonwealth Department of Health, who has just completed, a four months’ investigatory tour of the United States under the Rockefeller Foundation fellowship. He leaves for Europe, where he will continue inquiries and studies. Dr. Robertson, who investigated the social service undertakings of the United States Steel Corporation, largo rubber manufacturers and other companies having great numbers of employees, declares that his findings are extremely interesting in their Australian bearings. Ho also discussed industrial hygiene with Government executives and labour unions, and says he was very impressed by the work the Federal Government is doing for the rehabilitation of those crippled by industry, and the vocational training of children incapacitated by such diseases as infantile paralysis. Many Labour unions in New York are conducting clinics for their members for thee purpose of eradicating industrial di seases.—Ans.-N.Z. Cable.
