PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION

A meeting of the Wanganui branch of the Public Service Association was held last Friday evening, Air E. Gohns presiding, when the following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this branch of the Public Service Association of New Zealand strongly protest against the apparent apathy of the Government in failing to make an appointment of a Public Service Commissioner whose principal duty is to protect the Public Service from political influence, particularly in regard to appointments and promotions. This section considers the existing position a breach of confidence, and asks the Government to immediately make an appointment whereby the confidence of the Public Service Act will be restored. It was further decided that this resolution should be forwarded to the Prime Minister, the members for the district, and the local press” •
