AMERICAN STEEL .WORKERS
RETAIN 12-HOUR DAY. NEW YORK, May 25. The American Iron and Steel Institute unanimously adopted a report favouring the retention ol the 12-hour day in the steel industry. The report was submitted by a committee appointed at president Harding's suggestion to investigate the desirability of the eight-hour day. The committee declares that 15 per cent, increase in prices would follow ihe adoption of the shorter day, which the workers themselves do not want. Also there was insufficient labour to supply the three shifts daily.
