CHAMPIONS IN ACTION PLAY AT ST. ANDREW’S. Received May 19, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, May 18. Britishers to-day won three out of the four 36-hole foursomes at St. Andrew’s against the Americans for the Walker Cup. Wethered and Tolley beat Ouimet and Swcetzer, six and live. Harris and Hoomau lost to Gardner and Marston, seven and six. Holderness and Hope beat Rotan and Herron, one up. Wilson and Murray beat Johnstone and Neville, four and three. Holdnerness aud Hope made a brilliant recovery. They'were six holes down at the end of the first round, and were later eight down, but they were all square at the 32nd hole. JOLLY BEATS HAGEN VERY KEEN STRUGGLE. Received May 20, 1 a.m. LONDON, May 19. In the golf final Jolly beat Hagen 2 up after a very keen struggle. Hagen squared the match at the 13th.. The next three holes were halved, and Jolly won the last two amidst tremendous excitement, an immense crowd following the game and scrambling in a wild rush to the last green. AMERICANS WIN WALKER CUP. In the Walker Cup contest, the advantage gained in the foursomes was not maintained by the Britishers in the singles, tho Americans finally winning the cup with an aggregate of 6J to Britain’s 5J. —Aus. and N.Z.
