ARMY AND NAVY CONTRACTS.
AUSTRALIAN TENDERS TOO HIGH LONDON, May 18. It is stated to be extremely unlikely that any portion of the pending navy and army contracts will be awarded to Australian tenders. They were given an opportunity to re-cast their tenders, and did so, but despite full allowance under preference arrangements, their quotations were still higher than their competitors by at least a farthing a pound.
