WANGANUI-RANGITIKEI POWER BOARD
MR. LETHBRIDGE RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN. A meeting of the Wanganui-Rangi-tikei Power Board was held at Marton yesterday, the main business being the election tt a chairman for the ensuing term. Mr. B. P. Lethbridge, the retiring chairman, was re-elected. An estimate was scheduled of the Board’s expenses for the current year. These amounted to £2300, including the following items:—Preliminary expenses, £150; loan proposals, £650; members’ travelling expenses, £150; members’ allowances, £140; engineering expenses, £2OO. Last year the Board levied on the constituent authorities for £3352, the amount received being £3007 7/9, the amount outstanding being £lB7 18/11. The amount received from the Borough was £5ll 3/-, from Gonville £l4O 14/11, from Castlecliff £64 0/5. In reply to a member who asked when the Board was likely to receive power from Mangahao? it was stated that according to the latest Ministerial announcement, the Board expected to receive current in July of next year. ■ i'* i !W Mr. T. B. Williams remarked that according to the information he had received, it was likely to be 1926. Questions were also asked regarding the interpretation of an agreement between the Borough Council and the Gonville Town Board. Mr. Williams said that the Borough Council was using every endeavour to get this matter settled as quickly as possible. It had tried to get it heard before the elections in. March, but owing to no Judges being available, it was still held up. It was hoped that the case would be, heard early in June. The Board deputes! Mr. Gibbons to wait upon its solicitors to see if. the hearing of the case could not be expedited.
