GUILTY OF THEFT.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 13. At 1 lie Magistrate’s Court, Ralph Emery Small was charged with the theft of £32 19s 5d in his possession as an officer of the Education Department, and, further, with the theft of five sums of money totalling £2 10s. The accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. “We had no time for an audit,” was the statement by an officer of the Department. “There were times when the accused had some 200 accounts of Industrial School inmates in his charge, and in the year he bandied something like £10.000.”
