ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH.

ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED. There was a large congregation at St. Andrew’s Church last evening, when there was unveiled a roll of honour containing the names of 38 men associated with the Church. The Rev. D. Campbell conducted the service, and took as his text the words in Psalm 36, verse 6; “Thy righteousness is like the great mountains of Cod.” The preacher said that mercy, truthfulness, and loving kindness were the mountain peaks obtained by the exercise of duty, honour and self-sacrifice. and the Christian sacrifice was the sacrifice of self. In the war, tyrannical self was typified by militarism out to conquer, murder and steal. That night they had met together to unveil a roll of honour. As with other churches, the men associated with St. Andrew’s had heard the call of God and Empire. Although in the valley they scaled the mountain peaks of duty, honour and sacrifice. Some of them sealed their patriotism with their blood. They responded to the call and stood the test in the great shock of arms and were not found wanting. That night the roll of honour was like unto ;1 mountain top which spoke of duty well and nobly done, and, as God’s righteousness was like unto the great mountain, so the roll! of honour should be to them, not only a continual reminder of what had been achieved, but also a constant incentive and inspiration to all who worshipped inside the walls. Never once did the meru, faller or fail, and as they played the game so the congregation had to stand true to them, and as the righteousness of God was as the grfat mountain so might their righteousness and gratitude be a bulwark fortress and a refuge to all whose names were inscribed in letters of gold. After an impressive sermon the choir sang the anthem; “Crossing the Bar.” Mr George Paterson, with the assistance of Mr Haase, unveiled the roll of honour. The singing of "Abide With Me,” closed an impressive servlcge. The names on the Roll are: G. and W. and R. Reid, L. and M. Laird, T. J. H. and D. Amos, R. Rowe, T. Stuart, A. Murray, M. and R. Smart, F. Milne, H. T. and W. H. Hodge, L. Garner. A. Taylor. R. A. and J. G. Burnet, G. McCracken, J. and A. Moreland, C. Clemance, F. Barton. C. Bathgate, J. Cardwell, E. G. L. Haase, V. Russell, G. Patterson, A. Bogle, W. Bailey, V. R. Stewart, J. McDonald. 11. Bell, J. McPherson, and J. Mackintosh.
