HIS MAJESTY’S. Madame Annette Hayward again delighted a large audience at His Majesty’s last evening, when she sang several old favourites. She is a singer with a wonderful gif of interpretation. Tonight she will give another fine selection, including “ Swee’t Spirit, Hear My Prayer,” “The Rosary,” and “Home, Sweet Home.” These are amongst the best items in Madame’s wonderful repertoire. In addition to Madame Hayward’s fine contribution, there will be an excellent programme of pictures, including “'Black Beauty,” which is from the interesting equine story by Anna Sewell, with Jean Paige in the star role. The film is unique in many respects, and is filled with spectacular scenes. The fox hunt, the fire in the stables, the storm that washed the bridge away, the grand ballroom scene, and the race between horse and locomotive are some of the big moments of the picture. The programme should not be missed to-night. THE GRAND. MATINEE TO-DAY. This afternoon and to-night will be the last screening of the double feature programme starring Elaine Hammerstein in “Handicuffs and Kisses,” a splendid story well dressed and mounted. The second feature “The Rage of Paris,” is a Universal picture of some merit starring a new' personality to the screen in Miss Du Pont. The comedy “Brownie’s Little Venus.” provides plenty of amusement, while the International News provides the latest picture news including a thrilling aeroplane stunt, The programme can be recommended to all seekers of amusement. The plan, is at the Grand Theatre office. “TERROR TRAIL” STARTS TO-MORROW. Eileen Sedgwick, starring in the Universal super-serial, “Terror Trail,” has been on the stage since she was a small child. The star was born in Galveston, Texas, and when old enough to toddle took her place before the footlights w r ith her family, then known as the popular “Five Sedgwicks.” They travelled as an independent theatrical company and became famous throughout the country. The company’s repertoire included the latest dramatic and musica hits from New York and Eileen's early stage schooling gate her uni usual versatility. Miss Sedgwick then went into vaudeville and became a popular variety entertainer at the age of fifteen, but left the stage for comedy parts with a pioneer niotion picture company. Her first Important role before the camera was with the Universal production, “The Isle of Life,” taken in Mexico. She w r as so appealing in the role that her screen career was assured and she has continued in Universal productions. For a time Miss Sedgwick returned to comedy roles at Universal, and became very well known as a mirthmaker. Gar! Laemmle, president of Universal, discovered that Miss Sedgwick possessed unusual dramatic ability, and she was cast opposite Eddie Polo in several of his thrilling productions.

As a result of her sincere work and ability, she was given starring honours in “The Diamond Queen,” and which was a striking success, recently directed by Edward Kull. Kull guided her through the thrilling episodes of her latest serial. “Terror Trail.” which can be seen to-morrow afternoon at the Grand Theatre.

Supporting the first chapter will be Tom Mix in “After Your Own Heart,” and a full Fox programme.
