The annual Ram Fair commenced to-day with a sale of flock rams. There was a very large entry, totalling 5,914. The yarding was considerably in excess of requirements, and prices were low and passings fre- * quent, particularly longwools. An over-supply of Corriedales brought values back considerably on those secured last year. Halfbreds were in a shade better position. English Leicesters sold weakly. Borders better, but Romneys and Lincolns were not wanted. By far the best demand was for Downs, practically all the offering telling at fairly satisfactory prices. Top prices were: English Leicester 6 gns; Romneys 2 gns; Lincolns, 1 gn; Corriedales 9 gns; Border Leicester 9 gns; Shropshires 9 gns; Southdowns 9 gns;
