VALEDICTORY.

A gathering of the above nature was held in the Upper Aramoho Church on Tuesday evening last, the cccasion being a farewell to Miss Taylor, who is leaving our town to take up work under the auspices of the Presbyterian Social Service Association in Auckland City. The Rev. David Campbell occupied the chair, and besides a large gathering of the members of the local congregation, representatives were present from St. Andrew’s and St. James’ Presbyterian Churches. A pleasing programme of songs and: recitations, and musical items, interspersed with parlour games, provided a very enjoyable evening, and at a convenient interval, on behalf of the Sunday School, Bible Class and congregation, the Rev. Campbell presented Miss Taylor with a handsome silver mounted hair brush and comb as a parting gift. Mr Campbell spoke of Miss Taylor’s many excellent qualities as a faithful and devoted servant of Master, and wished her every suWFss in this new and larger sphere of service. The Rev. C. E. Kennedy and Mr Geo. Scott also spoke, and Miss Taylor made a suitable reply. Miss Taylor was also the recipient of a handsome copy of the Scriptures from,Mrs Hopley, and at the close of the service on the previous Sabbath evening, by a dedicatory prayer, .Miss Taylor was publicly set apart for her work among the orphan boys and girls of our Dominion. During the evening, pleasing items were rendered by Mesdames Wight and Good, Miss Elliot and Mr. Ford, the accompanists being Mrs Kay and Miss Hanton. Supper being served, an enjoyable gathering concluded by the congregation singing “God be with you till we meet again” and the benediction by the Rev. C. B. Kennedy.
