AN ADMIRAL’S FUNERAL. LONDON, August 14. Obituary: Admiral Penrose Fitzgerald. At his own request, his body was sewn in a blanket, taken to sea In a fishing-boat, and buried. Admiral Charles Penrose Fitzgerald was born in Cork in 1841. He was educated at sea, joined the Victory in 1854, and made rapid progress in his profession, serving on the Ariadne, Colossus, Agincourt, Bellerophon, Inflexible, Collingwood, and other famous ships, and was second in command of the China station in 1898-99.
