LIEUT. PARER’S BAD LUCK. MELBOURNE, August 4 After travelling forty miles Lieut. Parer’s engines developed trouble. He landed safely and sent his companions away to obtain wood for overhauling purposes. While they were away Lieut. Parer started to overhaul the engine. A strong wind overbalanced him and his legs and feet were caught in the revolving propeller. A big toe was broken and both feet badly bruised. He was suffering severely from exposure when his companions returned. They re. moved him to hospital. Lieut. Parer had just started on a flight round Australia.
