IMMIGRANTS HELD UP.
RESULT OF SHIPS’ CARPENTERS’ STRIKE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 12. Cabled advice has been received by the Immigration Department that owing to a strike of ships’ carpenters, accommodation for immigrants cannot be provided on the Corinthic ard Athenic. The departure of 500 immigrants who were booked bjtl ese two vessels has accordingly been delayed. .
